Rectangle profile sleeping bag that isn't bulky as hell?

Anyone know of a down-filled, rectangle profile sleeping bag that is isn't super bulky?

Seems like all the good quality brands have gone to mummy bags, which I really don't like. I don't use the over-head function of mummy bags, and hate how my legs are basically trapped in a tube in a mummy bag.

Almost seems like this niche is now filled by quilt makers, but I still want the zip function of a sleeping bag and find most quilts are more for summer use.

If you don’t mind spending, Western Mountaineering make a larger rectangular shaped bag.

My Macpac bag isn't a tight mummy at all....that sounds wrong I know... Foot box is generous and has its own zip up to about knee level. I often sleep with feet on box and rest of bag in zipped over top of me. Have done it the last two afternoons in back of Terrano actually lol.i tried bag in shop, got home with it and realised it was std size, went back and swapped for extra large....gives that bit more arm room if it's zipped right up.

I know what you mean many years ago I bought a fairy down Everest mummy bag with a 3/4 zip -have always regretted it ( not the warmth though -) could not stand the trapped feeling - I should have bought the full zip Kosciusko ( ? ) although graded below the Everest it would have been a lot better -

I'll take a look at that - do you know the model?

Cheers - that's the kind of info I was looking for.

Yep, pretty much the same. I can sleep in a mummy bag, but am nowhere near as comfortable as a rectangular bag. They're fine if you lay on your back and don't move, but if you roll over, or are sleeping on a bit of a slope and slide around a bit, or otherwise move, the darn things twist and cinch up and you have to completely wake up and methodically untwist the bag to get back to sleep.

We had One Planet make us two -3°C rectangle bags 11 years ago and I've just got out of mine about five minutes ago. (The wife will stay in hers until I bring coffee.)

We considered replacing the bags before this trip because they've done a cumulative ~3 years worth of nights and bulk was the main consideration. We didn't find anything on the market currently that packed down much smaller than what we already have which is perfectly fine for a three to four days hike with a 60L backpack. I wouldn't hesitate to buy the same brand again, they've been excellent. Just a bit grubby now.

Our cold kiwi bags we bought from smiths city 20 years ago are a bit like that....been used a hell of a lot,I only bought new bag for more shoulder room, not an issue when two zipped together as big snuggle bag with Mrs to keep me warm lol.
