Salewa Mountain Trainers…do they break in?

    Hi all

I’ve commented on my experiences with the Mountain Trainer Lite in another thread here but I’m after some specific feedback on the standard Mountain Trainer.
Had two pairs of the lites which had to be returned due leaking. Decided and was recommended to upgrade to a different boot. It’s all been done remotely as store is not local. I was thrilled with the Lites in terms of comfort and fit so had no qualms ordering the standard untried. However they arrived and I found they feel like a completely different boot, particularly in stiffness of the sole and overall comfort.
Haven’t worn them outside the house yet but had planned to go away this week with them….do they break in get more comfortable with time? Or should I play safe and send them back for something else?
I should say I’m usually found scurrying around in the bush in fairly easy terrain maybe with the off trip up higher.
    Thanks in advance

My Mt Trainers are the most comfortable boot out of the box I have ever owned. Definitely different to the lite but in my opinion a much better boot.
Experience. What you get just after you needed it.

Shouldn't need any break in. Send back if no good for you.
I had the same problem with the rapace. Leaked day one, sent back and they returned saying they were all good.

Im onto my third pair. Never had a breaking in problem. Throw them on and into it.

My Rapace needed no breaking in, yet to try the Mt trainers but looking for a lite summer option so might give them a go one day.

Where’s the best site to buy from? Look like awesome boots for up this way.

I didn’t get mine from Dwights in Wellington as they didn’t have my size but they are 30$ cheaper on the standard Mountain Trainer compared to where I bought them, word of warning “Salewabootsnz.com” looks very much like a bogus website, I got scammed last year buying sneakers from a similarly professional looking Mizuno site, spoke to bank and apparently fraudulent footwear/clothing sites are rife.

I got mine at Further Faster in Christchurch but Trekinn online is supposed to be very good, cheaper and quick to ship. I haven't personally used them but others on here have.
