A ha, good steel by all accounts, a bit brittle apparently. Yet to use it in anger on a deer....

I have had a few svords, 1 I liked and 2 others I didnt think cut the mustard as far as quality for the price I paid for them.

I really liked the ease of sharpening with the Scandinavian style single bevel blade on the Bahco so I bought a Helle, its been a great knife and I would buy another one if I lose this one.

The folding Buck stockman is good for finer work and holds a good edge.

I like Helle knives, a very practical size shaped blade, good quality as well.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Yep, will do in the morning. Its a traditional scandi sheath without the fishtail most have at the bottom. Its seam is centred on the back and it just has a loop rivited to it. It also has a plastic insert.

    Tahr

What I love about your posts is you unconsciously backup your thoughts and observations about knife technology , advancement of steels and just plain old likes with action shots of the knife in question in work mode .
I don't have any of the knives you own but I truly look on with an interest to learn and advance my knife knowledge when you post.
    Great stuff

Never really been a fan of the scandi grind, I do have a frost, but I actually dug it out of the garden...and that's where it gets used, to dig out weeds.

Some great knives on here, I have nothing out standing these days, used to have puma's which are fine in some respects and not in others.

Just a couple that are more for my own historical curiosity, a Cold Steel brand Dirk and a Von Tempsky Bowie by Svord. Svord concedes that this is their interpretation of the bowie and not 100% historically correct, I personally like it and it does do a bit of machete duty sometimes. Too big for anything other than hacking or thrusting and too heavy to carry around if your not a Forest Ranger using it across your forearm to parry Maori warriors patu.
