    Single burner cookers

Who has what? Im looking at getting one, was considering the MSR pocketrocket for about $80. MSR seem to have a good name or is that all you are paying for? Is it worth while spending a bit more and going to something like a jetboil? Will be mainly used for me and the missus on overnight camping/hunting trips

Pocket Rocket is great. I have the Micro Rocket and it's slightly better and smaller.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

I have a jetboil...fantastic for a cuppa or dehy, not so good for heating stuff or frying.

Jetboil is so quick, makes a quick start to the morning, I even take it on winter day trips and have had a hot lunch or brew on the hill. My mate with his regular stove always comments while Im supping on a hot cuppa....worth the extra coin in my book!

    Cheers

The cheap ones work fine but if you want the best one this is the lightest one and it's also regulated.

kovea do a jetboil knockoff and HF had them on special for 100$, probably $100 well spent.

ive cooked porridge in my jetboil so it cant be that bad as long as you know how to use it properly!

if catering for more than 2 people id take a canister, or look at multifuel stoves

I am still using the same single gas burner I bought about 20 years ago, it has never failed me and boils water no problem. I simply cant justify the expense of a Jetboil, maybe I'm just old school but these super expensive gadgets just give me the shits.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

While I would have agreed with you a couple of years ago, Jetboils are cheap as now ... and just as good as ever - to say nothing of their weight (lack of) and performance (awesome)

I have a small titanium pot that just fits a gas canister inside, and then one of those really tiny kovea titanium stove's that folds down to only take up half the palm of your hand. All of that fits easily in the lightweight mesh sack the pot came with. All together it only takes up a bit more room than the actual gas canister. Was the smallest/lightest combo I could find.

I have the same set up and it's outstanding. Packs down nicely

If I'm travelling a bit heavier I take my jetboil, along with a msr titanium pot kit which fits nicely on the burner ring and is good for cooking a group feed super quick. Highly rate the jetboil

Jetboil aren't that much more expensive than a burner and a pot? $145 gets you a sweet setup in a jetboil.

Each to their own though. I use to just run a small kathmandu burner and a pot before but my jetboil is way faster, easier and more convenient
