    SINGLE RIFLE STORAGE?

Hi people.. I guess there's one or two forum members who store a rifle on a locked rack.
Was toying with the idea..I see the two piece single rack comes with a few screw holes?. They say the rack is all savvy with the law etc.
My question is are the brass happy with a few screws into a wall stud ?
    cheers..
not sure if this is in the right place?

Had the arms officer around yesterday to check my two racks for licence renewal. Just had to grind the heads off the screws (didn't need to first time around) and was all good. Racks are secured to a large beam.

Any chance of a pic but no worries if not, just a rack in place would show me a lot.
    Cheers again.

I’m using a rack at my place. I’m currently waiting for arms officer to contact about checking it as I’ve recently moved & updated my details. But arms officer was fine with it at old residence. I’ve cut a piece of thick metal plate which slides onto the rack first. That covers up the screws so that they can’t be accessed without unlocking the rack & removing the plate.

Accprdi g to the word of the law, a rack is still fine. It does have to ebe secured to a structure though

It wouldn't be legal in a caravan though would it? Not being a dick, just looking for solutions to my own road trips!

Correct, you can't have firearms stored in a vehicle as the vehicle can be moved... had a friend run into this problem, even though his caravan had been moved by helicopter..... was told he would have to bolt gun safe to a tree outside

yeah I do realise that......and in that case the law is definately an arse..... but far better to be secured under lock n key than just tucked under a mattress..... have chained rifle to bed frame through action and taken bolt away before...not ideal but made best of situation...
the wee tuffy looks ideal in that it could be secured SOLIDLY to base of van, inside a cabinet.....its a bit hard to pop into shop for a coffee if you cant leave bangstick in car while you do so.....

Also very interested in this re mobile home/ housebus as we would like to live the ' hippie ' lifestyle for a while when kids move out and live in a bus or whatever and tour the country but no one seems to know what is legal as far as ' no fixed abode ' and security in that situation....

Even our firearms officer scratched his head over that one

Ive even heard of inspecters not happy with bangstick cabinet inside a 20' container....yet its ok in a storage yard.... sometimes folks are just dumb... cant see forest for the trees, even if said tree has cabinet bolted to it........

Dreaming here, but a change in the law would be good. Something along the lines of a gun made inoperable would be allowed to be be stored in a locked vehicle (i.e. take the bolt with you). If the bolts gone, it's just a lump of wood and a metal pipe.
