They use straight pull 22 rifles in the Biathlon (ski shooting) if that is what you mean? Anschütz 1827F Fortner or similar.

The Fortner action is very neat and uses ball locking just like some air fittings, etc. Flicking the bolt handle rearwards with the trigger finger withdraws the balls and the bolt opens, flicking the handle forward with thumb closes the bolt and extends the locking balls. Neat, smooth, and expensive!

Have not seen para Olympics but was surprised the number of misses in the Olympic biathlon. Pretty sure when I last watched 30 years ago misses were few and far between. As they skied close to the shooting they slowed down to slow the pulse and breathing. Maybe someone worked out skiing flat knacker and missing the odd one was quicker. Enjoyed watching the biathlon and there was some (all) very expensive beautiful rifles.

Para Biathlon shooting is only done at 10 metres (as opposed to 50 metres in true Biathlon) and any air rifle is allowed. PCP is mostly used but the rules now also allow for laser rifles and electronic targets.
