I have the traverse Alpha. Almost a year now. Good watch.
Yet to use all the features on it as intended but they all work.
Temp and pressure seem accurate when tested with a kestrel.
It lasts 10-12 days on a charge.
I replaced my straps with rubber ones because the nylon one started to stink after use and getting blood and guts on it.

How do you find the GPS route tracker function?
I've had my Traverse Alpha since November and I'm real happy with it. Stupidly, I've already had to use their warranty service and I was even more impressed with that. Long story short - my fault, new watch.
On a recent hunt I tried out the "Shot" function. It works as advertised. Surprisingly it also worked when I was using a .22 on bunnies, which was somewhat unexpected as they suggest the feature may not work on small calibre rifles. The altimeter, barometer and temperature features all work well. I got to a trig station the other day with a known altitude of 1471 m and bugger me - the watch said I was at 1471 m. For accurate ambient temperature you just take your watch off for a couple of minutes and let it adjust to the surrounding air otherwise its biased by your body temp. It's taken a bit to get used to the Fused Alt and barometer modes but they are pretty accurate, without doubt.
The GPS works well, no hassles there. A couple of weeks ago for the hell of it I "planned a route" on the computer using a known local track that even appears on google maps, then uploaded that to my watch and followed the track, noting deviations. There is no doubt that you will get to your destination if you follow your watch. It was pretty simple to use. The watch is well set up for training... like fitness training etc. as it can log your exercises for review afterwards. Thankfully it doesn't laugh at me afterwards.
Like most smart watches these days you can Bluetooth it to your phone for incoming messages, emails, texts and calls. I just use it for calls and text alerts. Very handy when you have the volume turned off on your phone. You can adjust these settings via your phone app.
Battery life was my big sticking point. On my last watch I changed the battery every 4 or 5 YEARS... this bloody thing needs to be charged every 10 -12 days. My wife told me to "get over it and move on"... so I almost have. :)
Overall I'm very happy with it.
Being able to make adjustments via your phone app is handy. Want a different presentation when hiking? No problem, use the app to change what you see on the watch. Don't want a red backlight? No problem, change it on your phone app. Done.
I compared the Traverse to the Fenix5 and technically they're almost identical in every respect. Yep, the colour screen of the Fenix is nice but the Traverse had a couple of extra features I liked so I went that way.
I've got one - same comments as above. Good watch and it even tells the time
Just need to twist the credit controllers arm now almost got a yes out of her after answering all the usual questions "what wrong with your old one" "what warranty does it have" " I didn't get a present for my birthday" Yours is in July :-) New bed spread $400, diamond ring on your finger last month $1600, new curtains you've ordered, and weren't you talking about changing your car? I think I've got enough ammo ;-)
Ha your keen! I wouldn't mention Bed spread and curtains
"They are half for you"
Does the big arrow annoy you? Seems like a big arrow on a small screen would make it hard to see exact position?
it dosnt have full mapping software in the phone they call it breadcrumbs mapping or something like that idea, basically i used mine to climb up and drop down particular spurs and it worked a treat.
Its not like the new gps with maps
In the first instance, yes it did. Then I worked out it was easier to follow the direction the arrow was pointing than to try and keep the breadcrumbs on track. You can adjust the scale a little, which helps.
In preference to the using the arrow I would like to see the route navigation transfer to the compass deviation triangle as that would be much easier to follow. It might do that but I've not had a chance to find out yet.
I see the website has white watched for 299.00 that's crazy cheap
I think they're the same just white colored
It's a mean deal ay

Just a word of caution team... the Traverse White and the Traverse Alpha are not quite one and the same thing. Yes, they're both the "Traverse" watch, but the Alpha has additional features not embodied in the White.
All the basic features are the same and performance is identical, however the Alpha has additional Hunting and Fishing modes not available in the White and with those features comes:
Sunrise/sunset alarms
Moon phase calendar (surprisingly helpful)
Red back light (compatible with night vision for you SAS guys)
Storm alarm
Temperature
Shot detection
Sea level pressure graph
... and some other stuff associated with the above features.
If you want the full details go to the main Suunto site, search for Traverse then "compare" the Alpha with the White. The site gives you a full like for like comparison and you can then note the differences.
Hope that helps.
Thanks mate.

Mate at $269.00 it will be my daily time piece and will more than replace the $99.00 Olympus I currently wear
Impressed.
So can you explain what shot detection is?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shot detection, it hears a shot and places a way point on your map/track so you see where you shot
You need to put the watch into "Hunting" mode, R93.
When you operate in Hunting mode any shots you take will be automatically recorded as a point of interest. After the shot has been recorded you can change the POI icon to something more meaningful from the menu, for example "Big Game" and then make your way to the animal. If you should need to backtrack to where the shot was taken you can navigate back there using the watch.
I add a POI icon when reaching the animal so when I get home I can look on the map and see where the shot was taken from and where the animal was located.
