Old mans beard I think its called or moss is a good ass cleaner. Better then a manuka stick
Cheeky old shits you'll keep
So is that stuff not called old mans beard?
Call it what ever you like the stuff works!
For me,the most important piece of gear would have to be a pregnant test kit. The first two days out on the hill I'm totally rooted and believe me by the third day I get a little worried of my condition. On the fourth day I take the test,if clear I carry on,if not I pack it in.One must look after themselves and more so if one is prone to getting totally rooted while out in the scrub.
My Macpac Puffer jacket - squashes down to nothing in your pack & the first thing that goes on when I return to the tent after a day out - warms you up real quick - then when retiring to the tent for the night I jam it into the sleeping bag cover & its now me Pillow
- A plastic clothes peg, to close over the bag of the back country meal whiles its Stewing/brewing
- An empty Milk bottle to collect water for camp
- Light stuff = Good
Back country meals have a ziplock so you don't need a clothes peg ;)
I rehydrate mine for an hour or so then sit it in a pot of simmering water for 10-15min. Use the water to clean my spoon and make a cuppa
Im too hungry to wait that long!
Mine would be 'Replace' electrolyte sports drink. I used to get bad leg cramps after a hard day on the hill but I dont if I have a drink of this when I return to camp in the evening.
Roy would a couple of paper clips work instead of a clothes peg? I usually keep a couple in my bum bag...easy to bend thin wire that weighs nothing and may be useful one day!
I wedge a couple of pairs of disposable gloves in one of those yellow plastic containers you get inside a kinder egg and put one in my bag and one in my pocket. They come in handy for when your dis assembling what you have shot and stop your hands from stinking of guts.
The other thing I have always got with me is a 2m length of cord tied in a loop. I have uses it for a multitude of things but its really handy when you are on foot for carrying rabbits.

Used grenade canister (cylindrical jar - waterproof with screw on lid) with insect repellent, insulation tape, foot powder and ofcourse my pipe with some tabacco and a lighter....
***lighter can also be used for survival or lighting gas cooker
I guess they could do ....however I like the plastic peg , I usually got two in me pack & once they done being dinner pegs, they go back to being used as a peg to hold me socks & jocks on the guy rope of my tent............
the other good thing I take is me SPORK - great little invention
Maybe if you've got piles or something they might sting? *dab dab* Hhahahaha :XD:
Before I left for NZ this year my missus gave me a toy, you click its legs in and it changes face. theres a happy face, angry face and an indifferent one. Before I hunt I click it a few times and then look and see what the face is, become my superstitious hunting omen now. You may all be big toughies but having that while I'm away for a week up bush is the best thing I take.
Other than that I'd have to say my bumbag, way better for day trips than a bag.
