Ok folks I have a few simple cameras, plug the sd card in and come back a few weeks later and check it.
Was looking attend trail camera pics thread and people are talking about gprs systems, pxting and sms etc. Thoughht this thread would be a basics 101 for all that stuff.
Am quite keen to get a camera that will send pictures / emails back to me, (obviously where there is reception). Can some give a run down on what the options are?

I got a cheapo one off trade me, involved emailing China a few times for software updates then getting camera talking to pc.... Then 20c / put tried putting a limit on it and fun#Ed thee whole thing up
I was after something like this to let me know when I had trespassers on part of the farm, but got lost in the gobble degook
You need good quality Cams – that’s a must.
You need to learn the rigmarole and tricks and tips.
For example - when the battery bank goes flat (if you not change before it goes completely flat) you need to reload the profile data via Computer again.
But - once you learn the ropes - they are amazing - great for security - and fun for Game - hunting success can be improved many X - with these "if" you have the right property and full control over it etc

I have 2 MMS capable cams, an older ltl Acorn 6210mms and a not so old 5310WMG . They work on the Vodafone network and need 3 bars, you can get booster aerials. I find the ltl acorns pretty easy to set up. The programming data is set on a root file on the SD card so its there untill you erase it, dosnt vanish when the batts go flat or you need to change them. Pxt cost is standard 50c. Setting the camera up to minimize false triggers is a learning curve, setting the sensitivity to low or medium is a good start. Quite a few options out there now,Iv stuck with the acorns as they were the only mms option years ago. The 2nd 6210 is 4+ years old , has been in the bush the whole time and has clocked a year on 12 AA lithiums. Ill definatly look at GPRS for my next cam though.
