Midgety daypacks are not much good for carrying venison loads, especially decent sized animals or more than one. Only way round that is to have a rubbish bag to stuff your day bag in, gut the animal and stuff your bag in it and carry the whole thing out. If I'm goin down that road, it's belt kit and no bag at all. Get something big enough to be useful. K2 or similar is good.

Some peolpe love them, I tried one and a Swazi "stag bag" I think it was called. I found both not to be what I wanted. Nothing wrong with the concepts or construction, just not how I wanted to work them. A decent sized pack that fold down well when it only has a few items in it is my "go to"
If I am in an area that allows for vheicle or track recovery of animals I opt for a 30L day bag with a good frame. It will carry plenty. But anything like meat will only be carried to the exit point.
Tried the "just one" concept as well and while it did many of the box ticks it failed on the lightweight aspect (3 KG empty if I recall.)

With the Minime you need to be pretty parred down on gear and boning out will be a requirement too. If in heavy terrain with 15 kgs of meat onboard, you may well wish for a framed pack. But like I said guys find them good, its always a pretty personel choice, how you travel.

Good info thanks guys. Have an old huntech day bag with the canvass lining. It’s real old and getting a bit tired. When a deer is shot I use a canvas meat bag with straps to load out. Also use an old macpac cascade from time to time for bigger day trips.

I got the Kuiu Pro LT 5500. It’s pretty light at 1.7 kg. I can cinch it right down with the straps and it’s bloomin comfortable. If you want a smaller bag just swap it out. The meat hauler ( between frame and bag) is also good I carried out 20kg pig out with it. It’s very expensive but the modularity of it is awesome. I’ve tried daypack plus canvas bag with straps but would rather be able to just open up the pack if needed.
I looked close at the Twin Needle options but they just didn’t seem to have the flexibility I needed.

I use a exped lightning as a main bag and day bag, compresses down real small and tight on the back when carrying minimal day hunt gear then opens up nicely to carry meat out.light as a feather and well constructed, once you get used to the compressing system it works well,I also use old stony creek blaze fleece vest as a cover, quietens down the slight russle/scratch sounds when in tight bush and helps with the safety aspect.

Tried stag bag, pikau, mega bumbag setups over the years but find the big pack compressed down the best system for me,especially with a deer on board.

How do you find the frame in the thick?

Only really has a skeleton frame running up centre of your back, nice thin shoulder straps as well so doesnt really effect the mounting of the rifle if you need to shoot.

My son uses my old Exped Lightning 60 all the time to carry his gear and meat out (back legs and back steaks)
I have been waiting several years for it to break on him but no it keeps trucking on
Mixture of bush and tops hunting and he’s never complained about the Exped.

I've got two molleme packs. Same size as the minime I think. Highly rate them. I've got a couple add on 5l pouches on one for all my gear when I've got meat in the main pack. Can bone out a red and fit it all in no problem. I find them very comfortable loaded up.

Yeah, me too. There's dozens of photos of it with dead deer on here.

I can fit the hindquarters, backstraps and some forequarters of a large red in the bag. It's the max I'm prepared to carry in steep country with my shagged knees. The rifle scabbard is the real bonus for me - if I have a decent walk ahead after shooting light, I'll always stow the rifle on the pack. Extremely handy.

The pack is very rugged, that's for sure.

It's made to last eh not like the Chinese packs you find in h&f with similar price tags. I use the scabbard a heap too. Brilliant design.
