That’s sad to hear @akaroa1. Good to hear some proper feedback though. I’ve found Macpac great in regards to returns and replacing gear.

I just did 5 days in the molesworth and we had all kinds of weather. Would have gotten down around 0 overnight most nights. A mate of mine was trying out the Macpac quilt but with an extra added thin polar fleece sleeping bag liner. I think he was pretty comfortable.

I’m still yet to decide what to do.

But going by the fill weight and loft I would have expected it to have been ok at 8 degrees
Looked up the specs...actually looks ok but duckdown as you say even though still advertising as goosedown. My quilts are 850 and 900 goosedown from memory, but with about the same fill weight as the Macpac.

They are pitched as a group use quilt? Obviously designed for a quite specific purpose.

I would be inclined to order a one from yank land. Hammock gear econ series are good value. I've got the burrow, have used it to about - 4 which was the limit of good comfortable sleep for me. Silly light though, only 570 grams.

If I did it again I'd sacrifice a few grams and go a wide quilt with overfill for a bit of extra warmth

Here's the NZ Alpine Team write-up on the quilt - https://alpineteam.co.nz/2019/nzat-q...leeping-system

And a youtube clip showing how it's intended to be used - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiPO...ature=youtu.be
