At the risk of a ribbing, what's the preferred undies type to avoid chafing?
I'm only using cotton briefs and liberal dosing of 3B's, but even that's not guaranteed.

Icebreaker boxer briefs are pretty good. Merino helps a lot in anti chaffing. They're not cheap though.
holeproof vibes (Lycra).... I get them when the Warehouse has them on special .... They dont pich or chafe
Or dont wear any :P
Hygex antiseptic barrier cream, from RDI or if you are rich then get it from the chemist. I fill a pill container with it and keep in my day-bag.
I've been down the chafing road many a time and tried every remedy. The first and most important point is to stay away from cotton undies!
I started by buying some of this stuff from my local pharmacy: Lanacane ® it works pretty well, but really your undies are the problem.
Next I bough a pair of compression shorts from rebel sports for about $40, think they are "new balance" brand and are actually runner's compression shorts. Long story short - they work absolutely brilliantly. I've had literally hundreds of chafing free kilometres running and hunting. I would go as far as saying that they are the best money I've spent on my hunting hobby so far and I've bought some nice toys.
Good luck!

I'm a pretty green hunter, but a expert in the area of chafing :D
I've gone down a few roads now, the big key is always to start off by avoiding cotton undies, nothing worse than cotton!
I started out getting some lanacane anti chafing gel from my local pharmacy, but by the time you need it it's really too late.
The best thing I've found is compression shorts, I have a pair of New Balance runners compression shorts (about $40 from rebel sports) and I've had literally hundreds of hours of chafing free running and hunting in them. Best money I've ever spent on my hunting hobby.
I see that Hunters element are bringing out a new range of underpants for hunting.
as unmanly as it is, i wear bike shorts aka lycra wth normal jocks underneath it breathes and stops chaffing no end.
i wear the running shorts with the inbuilt undies works well for me
as i hunt on iwi land its a loin cloth and a piupiu, dont have any worries with chafing
I have dabbled with the bike shorts, different brands of undies etc etc.
Best thing I have found is just take a tub of vasalene.. I smear a bit on the outside of my rifle barrel to stop any pin rust. And use it to stop squeaky bits on boots or rifle slings
Definately don't wear boxes, loose fitting, or cotton types.
You need a firm fitting lycra type that gives lots of support.
Support for what? The bloody things are supposed to hang down...unless of course you have a set like a cows udder.:pacman:
Well, I can't wear shorts........ :ORLY:
And plus, the "veges" feel sooo good being gently held. :o
Sounds like you could be a bit 'scary' to do an overnighter with
Bike shorts seem to work ok
Paw Paw ointment is a good treatment, good on blisters, cracked lips etc
Bendon (mens) sports for me
These types of things are the answer. They are what rugby players wear under their rugby shorts for the same reason.

I bought couple of pairs of macpac merino boxers in the sale. Wore them on a 15km round trip tramp recently with a couple of river crossings, and on a trip through cave stream. They were great. No probs.
