Thread: What saw to buy??

Lost my pruning saw which was a Fiskar.
Nice and lite and unlike my knife it was sharp.

Question is what are you fellas, see what I did there fellas and saws..... never mind.

What do you guys find a good saw for chucking in your day pack and cutting the odd track or lookout?

Another Fiskar or Silky or something else?

Bahco....pruning saw, light and sharp......

Always brought cheap ones from mitre 10, invested in a Silky a never looked back.

Lately I've been using a 20v dewalt reciprocating saw and it's AWESOME! Lighter and easier to use than the chainsaw (safer up a ladder with one Hand) and can almost do as much he chainsaw

Amazing saws

Silky if you're after a hand saw... There are no others...

Have any of you guys tried the Stihl 36V saws
My petrol stihl's never get used now.
Easy to break teeth - need to be very light handed with file - but - new chains are not to badly priced
Other than that they are amazing - and not like a petrol saw - when you put it down or release trigger its not running making you keep working
Great for us old buggers

Had one of them, A new blade costs about the same as a whole new saw so that’s when I bought the Fiskar.

Probably should if put that I prefer a folding saw....and a reciprocating saw won’t fit in me pack so good.

I've got 2 Bacho folders, like bloody big pocket knives and they are great for casual use.

This is the Bahco I was using until it got to blunt, is this similar?

+1 these are the best non folding.
Dangerously sharp and last well.
Replacement blades readily available which is great because thw handles are well made and will last decades .... or until you loose this one also

They are good - cannot compare with Bahco - different ball park - sorry shootm
I give mine a wipe with an oil rag occasional =- but generally just a flick around some fernary to clean out the teeth

Hangs well on belt if you track clearing which I do do periodiclay - they are great - mine 2+ years old now still cuts like new !!

Yeah looks alright but I think I would still like a folder.
