Hey team,
I'm in the market for a new sleeping bag, I'm wanting something that's goes to at least -5 and that packs down fairly small. I've seen the new domex superlite, has anyone got one and are they any good?
So what's everyone using? Any other recommendations.

I went with a mont bell burrow bag # 3, got it from Aussie
Good bang for buck, weight and cost wise, synthetic so works when wet.
I have a booster bag to use in cold temps,
Went with synthetic for fiordland trip,
I'm happy with it.

Just remember a good ground mat is also part of your sleep system

Look for 800 loft down. You need less weight for the same warmth. My 400gm 800loft bag is as warm as my 700gm 600 loft bag.
Macpac Epic would be good, don't buy it until they have a sale though.

I use a quilt for anytime that I'm not expecting it to get properly cold. I have slept in it on snow which was bearable as I was wearing my down jacket and a hat. A lot of people carry these items and a big warm bag and strip down to undies to sleep. Why not save up to a kg of weight (and a lot of space) in your pack by utilising your clothes and a lighter bag?

It's really quite warm. Relies on having a good sleeping pad though

Just got a Mont Bell down hugger 800 #2 from Mont Bell Japan. 800 loft down, -6 comfort rating, 735 gms. Very happy with it

I got a mont bell from Japan as well. Very comfortable and light. I paid around$350 I think but not sure how much they are now. Bloody good gear though.

I'm replacing my 3 season bag with a quilt and keeping my old skool winter bag which I only use occasionally
I use a Macpac 700 latitude, the main reason is that it’s waterproof. I had a warm down bag that was ok until it got wet. I’m 6 foot and water wicked in when my feet touched the end of the tent and I woke up shivering. We always pick good weather but you never know. I don’t normally feel the cold and strip down for sleep but I like that I can add clothes if ever needed.
If you get a Mont Bell from Japan they have an option to buy as a gift and they wrap it all pretty and I think you avoid the tax.
That's what I did and it worked.
