Just been awarded a new contract and to meet part of the health and safety requirements ive got to get my boys some wind meters. Have seen a few posts on here in the past about them and thought would ask the experts haha.
Have been doing a bit of research but still a bit clueless.
Wanting something that will measure gusts and pretty hardy to the elements and tradies.
Any opinions on brand and where to buy would be much appreciated.
Kestrel 3500 will be the best for hunting.
Yeah well lets be honest thats what they will end up been utilised for the most haha.
Recomendations on where to buy stug? Cant seem to find any in wellington.

Scuse asking but why buy a fully blown weather station when all you were after in your original post is a wind strength meter with peak and average functions, or have I missed something? :(Quote:

I bought an $80 Caldwell wind wizard and the twirly bit has fallen out of it, so not really industrial strength.
I use a Silva ADC Summit. Small and easy to use, and include a raft of different functions.
I bought the same from Natchez except it is branded Brunton. First one konked out within a month and was replaced under warranty. Second one is going strong 3 years later. Wish I had not been a cheap arse and had gone with Kestrel first up though.Quote:

Yeah i like the idea zimmer, may have to do some creative accounting to slip a $600 bluethooth one into the bill.
Yeah i looked at silva but was told they dont do gust readings just average wind speed. And i really need gust reading.
I bought a Weather Flow in lieu of a Kestrel. I plan to upgrade when funds allow though.
Seems quite functional but I haven't used it enough to give a qualified endorsement.
The $45 I paid for it was worth the punt on function and longevity so far.

I use the $140 cadwell pro from reloaders, had it 2 years now and still going strong
