    Bar headed Geese

Im not a bird man but was watching a thing on telly and was amazed to learn they fly at over 10,000m.
Apparently the fact they are "flappers not gliders" generates enough excess body heat to prevent their wings icing in minus 35 deg temps at that altitude. And something about micro blood vessels enables them to not only function but perform in the rairifyed atmosphere.
They were filmed crossing the Himalayan alps. Impressive.

    Same as our Geese?

You'd be doing pretty well with your black powder loads to take one out at that altitude Toby!

watching the migration of the Canadas in Canada and seeing how high some of the skeins were, there would be some useful currents way up there, yes?

No doubt but apparently they power their way as apposed to getting a free ride as such to prevent freezing, those bar heads were doing 1500 or 1700 ks or miles a day, which ever it was its a lot
80kmh and over double that with a tail wind.

Saw that on the box last night VC. They fly higher than aero planes do. Bloody impressive.
