BOP roosters
Quick arvo mission to the old’s place to get dad out for a hunt (limited opportunities for him since his last dog died young and he’s decided not to get another). Neighbours farm produced a few roosters and we topped it off with a few ducks coming in to the pond in the evening.

I don’t know anything about shooting Pheasant or Quail – I never shot one - just helped them breed and protected them from predators for 17 years while we owned a previous BOP rural property. I just took pictures – thousands of them. Thirty odd acres adjacent to bush, farmland and orchards – it was full of Pheasants. The cocks called all day long, from up in the bush – they generally came out in late afternoon – always hens first and then the cocks.
I guess all game bird hunters now how Ducks and Pheasants love willow weed – Pheasants are obsessed with the seed and will scratch around for months after the green leaves have gone. First picture is on 7 June 2017 – not much weed left – but they will be still looking for seeds for another month or so. The second picture of the patch of weed is 16 May 2017. Nice dog and hunt result nzspearo.
