No idea but the crime is not in the commission but being caught in the commission.
Exactly, but,
I'd rather not face consequences for something I thought was legit.
Hence the question.:)
Then let me not misguide you as I know jack shit about it.
If you are not hunting waterfowl then you can use lead shot. Don't have a duck caller or duck decoys with you.
cheers stug
Just noticed getting on dark last night while fishing, the Canada's out there took a flight path not far from where I was, thought I might give them a hurry up and maybe one for the pot if I can.
Thanks guys.
Use no2s the sods are bloody hard to bring down.
I remember reading your not to use lead within 200m of a water way. I used to take lead to smash parries in the middle of the farm, steel for ducks near ponds and rivers

The steel rule is only for hunting waterfowl, Canada geese were removed from the game schedule a few years back so can use lead on them, or even rifles as earlier stated.
So if they are standing on the bank of a river you can hit them with lead?

Yep
Sweet, learnt something there. Thanks

Yeah that rule makes about as much sense as "You cant shoot ducks with 12 gauge lead but its fine to shoot them with 20 gauge lead"....
not true you can shoot ducks decoying in grass or crop paddocks with 12 gauge lead:O_O:
anywhere away from water in fact ie pass shooting them on a flightline in or out of treatment ponds as long as your 200 metres away.
as long as its not duck season or you arent targetting ducks ie no caller or dekes you should be okay but during the season who can be bothered with the risk or having to arse about with different steel/ lead loads or changing chokes on the off chance a goose might come your way...
especially given steel richochets like a bastard in river beds if ground shooting is your bent.
