    JayColli, are the ruffed grouse hard to hunt...I did hear one when I was in Manitoba but did not get to see him...amazing sound!!

    I've found spruce grouse quite easy to hunt because they will often pick the tallest conifer around and sit up top drumming away. Ruffed grouse are more difficult to locate but generally pretty nonchalant about being approached by hunters so you can just follow them through the under brush until a good shot presents itself.
