cant help with first bit...as for the second...something not too light with single barrel THAT FITS.... nothing else matters,cheap wooden stock means you can take bit off the bum without crying about butchering a classic...and glue it back on later...a single barrel gun is never useless and always a joy to carry.
too light and recoil becomes an issue...find some 30grm steel loads or buy box of the bismith type loads...plurry expensive but kid wont go through many.good ear pro is essential with steel loads as the are plurry loud.
give kid the "job " of finishing off woundies on water...that removes 99% of the pressure and also allows them to rest forend on something if gun feels heavy...gets them into the spirit of duck shooting and allows them to get used to gun handling without pressure to hit fast moving flying target..that frustration has many years of time ahead
