    Yep, I must admit the end result is not really the important bit for me. Dog did good and that's enough.

    Back in the US for a month ,see my new grandkid…. The duck/geese hunting season in full swing ,then back to kiwi for Jan/feb/mar….have a mate up in Mangapai…. Mad pig hunter/fisherman,reckon I’ll get a good dose of the bush and ocean…..

    Good day with Spence on Saturday, managed to bag our limits. Little .410 is a surprisingly effective gun. Bismuth #4 definitely aren't quite as good as the lead #6 were.

    Quite a few of us had reservations on what the day would bring in the Manawatu, turned out pretty darn good. 38 for the weekend, some good shots from the boys and some good dog work too. Even my 13yo Lab Rocco was getting some good retrieves in. I really thought last year would be it, but new steroid injections for his arthritis worked wonders.

    Best opening yet for us down south on the public water, managed to get our limit on Saturday by 11:30 and then for the first time ever a Sunday limit by 1:30 with better decoying birds than Saturday, an absolutely amazing weekend had, bring on the rest of the season!

    Bloody great day chipping away at mallards decoying very nice in the big winds.

    Dam forgot to take photos had a mate and his mate come up from southland for a couple of days between the 3 of us we had 5 springer spaniels in tow a real family affair my dog gunnar mate had the mother and the sister his mate had the father and a half sister was an awesome couple of days watching the dogs work not a huge num of quail shot but some great dog work with young dogs realized my we fella not such a pot licker after all
