Instead of driving half hour to #1 spot, backwater, or #2 spot, river,.....I'll venture 200m from house and shoot some puddle ducks. Take a small square of silage wrapped around a chair in the middle of one of the numerous lakes I've got
SH75 shut and road to Selwyn huts also closed, the road next to it down to Yarrs flat has water to top of tyres at least maybe deeper further down. Seen a couple of 4x4 parked up the lane a bit as can't get down. Selwyn river normally dry is from one bank to the other side. Seen lots of Ducks on paddocks.
Went for a poke around local river now the waters gone down abit. Just about all the spots that've been tagged are gone. One had decoys out couple of days back on a backwater.........it's now part of mainstream. Not to much quiet water around, so paddock ducks it's gonna be
Ducks will be flying high tomoro, clear sky's and bugger all wind.Good luck out there.
Sounds like someone's living 24hrs ahead of everyone else where we are been bombing up the waitaki riverbed all afternoon
according to latest info the "authorities" are waiting for favourable conditions to open the lake-according to data Iviewed its at its maximum mean depth .we abandoned our rakaia jaunt for opening w/e miles too bloody risky .plenty of time to go bag fat guts and co!!!
Pretty muddy pond where I m in waikato, we would need 200mm of rain at least to get the water at a descent level
Good luck to all participating in the best of traditions

Conditions are great down here and forecast not bad for tomorrow. Just need a little sleep now...
Yes, it could be a fine day with not much wind to start the day off in the morning so its going to be all about how good you are at calling them in I would say
