    Happens every bloody year

    Right on the opening of Duck shooing the rain arrives and floods the paddocks. Those of us who shoot open water, again will see a low number of ducks, as it's the paddocks where' it's a happening. Oh well best get ready to go and knock on doors. Luckily for me I have other options but I feel for those who don't. Last year the Edgecumbe flood stuffed our weekend (not forgetting the misery it caused) and this one is shaping up to be similar. better sneak down to Lentils and pop the odd one.

    well some of us open water shooters are enjoying the Godsend as it will mean we can sit amoung the trees and not have to dig a hole in mud to try to hide within range of water. lake we shoot has risen 60cm in last 24 hours so its looking really good for us....it doesnt matter much what level it is we get somewhere between 15-30 birds....but when lake is high it is easier all around for us.the other bonus of high lake is what shooters are there are further apart as shoreline stretches them out.if you go with intention of enjoying the day and anything over 5 birds is a great day...well the pressure comes off.

    @Gapped axe
    With your new cylinder (sawn off end) choked browning gold you'll be all over everything.
    Sorry.... too soon?

    There are about three hundred Parries sitting in a flooded paddock just over the one lane bridge son Kiwitahi Road at the moment.
    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

    Just come back in from a callout, the main rd in to here is on it's way out. Massive flash flood has taken out part of it over a 60ft bluff and the seal on the up side is starting to lift. If and when that goes with the amount of water coming down the gully it wont be long before it's gone burgers. Roading crews have arrived and stood us down. Hoping it can be saved as it's a one way in only here. Parked one of my vehicles at a client place on the other side incase it goes.

    How many of you guys feed your pond and how often
    We used a couple of ponds. Would start feeding early Aug and carry on until either feed ran out or the end of season at the end of Jan.
    Feed twice a week every week. shoot every Sat night during the season regardless of weather. On a couple of occasions when the frost got to severe the
    Govt would close the season early.
    The Grain we would get from the local farmers. We cleaned out their grain stores before harvest. 5 tonne of barley would be an average year
