Did not fish at all today as season over where I was,but by hoki I saw a LOT of trout while paddling around. Neat to see them as they do it plurry hard with fluctuations in lake levels.

Two is the limit on the Mighty Manawatu, not sure about the bombers but was only a 10 minute walk home.

Oh hell ,look whos posting again.
Anyway got a contact from the otherside of the Manawatu, young fella and his son.
Had a meet up showed them the river ,gave them some tips, told them theres trout here.
Sorted a few tangles with them then reeled in this bow.

Went out to Kainui lake on Saturday afternoon, also known as lake D. Fish and Game website state on their website there's good fishing in that lake, nope, from what passersby told me there is nothing but eels and catfish so bailed to Horotiu bridge, saw one koi and one small trout, no bites. Stopped off at Taupiri boat ramp to check the height of the river, a guy was just packing up after doing some trout fishing, reckon he caught three decent trout in 15mins with softbaits, so I tried the spot he used with softbaits, nothing as usual.

I went to Turangi a month ago and spent two days up and down the pools near the town, nothing. And another fella whom I watched over the two days, also caught nothing.

I reckon it's a tourism scam, this trout in the Tongariro lark.

Though, I spoke to the guy, when both of us had the same idea to have one last cast at the Waitahanui on the way home on the Sunday afternoon, he reckoned he had caught 4 that day before.

    Awesome.

Looks near perfect conditions. Better than the showers, wind and discoloured water I endured yesterday. Drew a blank too...

    Most excellent.
