Its my school mate that runs the charter out of Hicks, look up Coastal Fishing Charters on Facebook. Aaron is a good bugger, drop my name and you might get a 10% increase in cost

Not sure about charters but plenty of kings around the nelson/durville area. Probably cheaper to get to from Dunedin than somewhere way up north

Awesome info chaps. Really appreciate it.

Barry - Farking hell I'd be pretty happy with that! Maybe I should get my ass back in the water over the winter and give spearing one a decent nudge. Heaps of good info, thanks mate.
Gibo - Will look them up
MSL - Nice one. We won't have a boat so unless someone is a real good bugger, we'll need a charter but will keep the area in mind.

iSi one needs to be right at top of game to target kings that size at 3 Kings the right gear - extremly fit ( big currents ) and good back up - not for me I would get towed to bottom never to be seen again lol

Nelson / Tasman Bay kingi fishing / spearing is going well ..not outstanding but good fish .

    Tasman Bay goes ok

November onwards when the blue water arrives sees a solid fishery.

I’m out of country end of October but if your stopping over here , In November I can offer up a few beds and we shore dive kingis ..or head for other spots …certainly not offering up a charter expectation ..but —- well if the blue water arrives the kings will to..

Bit cheaper than a North Island trip .

    Just an offer

stingray - that's an awesome offer mate, I really appreciate that.

Will see how we go and might get in touch. It sounds like the brothers are tentatively onboard with some spendy charter, within reason, but doing it a bit tougher would mean we probably meet a real good bugger and could also do a pretty serious hunting trip and spend the savings on.... "lemonade"...
