    Decent budget 80lb braid?

Looking to spool a 2nd hand electric deep drop rig for occasional use. need to buy a 1000m spool. Seems to be a big leap from the cheap stuff on trademe to the decent stuff from various retailers any one know of any good deals? Thanks in advance

Not super cheap, but reasonable. Otherwise, I have an AliExpress recommendation for you.

Thanks guys looking at the Noeby x8 braid from marine deals at $139 for 1km as a possibility. MB I'd be keen to know about the AliExpress stuff if you thought it was up to task. This gear is probably only likely to come out of the shed 2 or 3 times a year.

You are probably better to go with a proven brand. Budget stuff may deteriorate. Good stuff wears out eventually but doesn't usually fail due to age (Dacron does).
Who knows how budget stuff will last?

Here you go. I can vouch for the stuff in lighter breaking strains. I have the heavy stuff as well, but not used it much.

just buy the jig star. Its what I use and its never let go.

Think about it. You dont want to spend money on cheaper braid, then have it break on you after youve spent $$ on getting to a fishing spot, tackle, bait etc just to loose the fish of a lifetime because your braid is shit.

Dont buy that black speckled stuff from the boat show. I cant remember its brand, but its shit, Mate lost 3 good kingys in a row with it breaking on hook up.

I'd recommend adding a mono top shot or wind on leader also.
Braid is very susceptible to abrasion and shark skin wears through it fast.
Sand sharks (which you will catch plenty of deep dropping for puka etc) are bastards for rolling up your line passed your trace and wearing braid.
I make up wind on leaders to save my braid.

This site is useful but doesn't cover heaps of brands yet. The aliexpress stuff suggested by MB seems to rate OK other than being 2x over diameter and 2x advertised breaking strain.
