Yea the weight and bulk of say 4-6 bottles in a small boat is significant compared to what looks like a few energy drink cans and a helmet or 2Quote:

The canisters may be the place it comes unstuck. Imagine going to Thailand or the Solomon's for a dive holiday and there's nothing available, or worse there's a can that isn't OEM that you could load but are unsure of? Not much difference to a dodgy fill though I suppose. It looks cool but it's heavy and with the HUD it looks like the vision is quite narrow FOV.
Interesting concept, would love to know the price per "fill" and maintanence...if the military picked it up it would make getting it through is licensing a lot easier.
Would love the less bulk of tanks hoses etc, that why I enjoy free diving.
Would be interesting how the fit worked in cold / hot water for fogging and in a swell / surge! All things I'm sure they will work through.Great to see innovation in a sport I love

Looks like fun though.
Like all things developed it looks good for blue water dives at a resort.
But for NZ dive conditions looks a bit dodge.
I'll stick to my kit thanks...but keep the new stuff coming....who knows

i may be old fashion but having a system with an octi, a BCD, and no canisters that go boom when exposed to water either side of my head i sorta like. Don't get me wrong im no luddite, i even purchased one of the Mares HUBS when i did my instructors ticket Many moons ago, i just can see a stack of issues with this set up. (PS the hub was a silly purchase ;) )

Last time I used the hub was in the Solomons, that stupid inflate deflate mechanism, thank god for 223 bronze brush, vinegar and gasket sealant, think in the end I disconnected the hose!!
The addition of O2 into the breathing loop on this thing appears to be completely uncontrolled. The HUD electronics only monitor the loop ppO2 and CO2 but do not actually control it. So the device cannot match your O2 metabolic consumption and maintain the required partial pressure of O2 at any given depth. Instead, it’ll sound an alarm when the PPO2 exceeds a safe level, maybe 1.2 or so. For each user, this could be at a completely different depth to the next user. Ignore the alarm and you risk a CNS hit. There’s no bail out system to get you on a known safe mix. Pretty hopeful to suggest diving to 42m which exceeds “recreational” limits for most agencies. Probably fine to the 6m limit for pure O2 devices to be on the safe side.
I don’t have a problem with the principle, I dived using a Russian mine clearance rebreather (AKA60 Orca) recreationally for several years, this just needs better execution of the technology, perhaps in the form of a proper O2 set point controller.
