    A large part of the "Canned Salmon " & " Pacific Salmon" is Kahawai .Exported to Aus; processing including food die added ,canned an sent back to NZ . They use to get it for a few cents per kilo ,don't know what they pay for it now.

    You see Chris that is interesting. My mother in law from my first go round bottled Kahawai and it tasted just like canned salmon. Now I know why.
    It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
    What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!

    Is there not some kind of law against canning Kahawai and labelling it Salmon? Bloody well should be.

    aussies over here in WA call kahawai salmon so maybe it is a type of salmon or somethin

    They tried to get the name changed to Sea Trout a few years ago Rushy.
    Think the Aussie refer to it as Pacific Salmon ,only looks pink after the food die goes in.
    Believe its illegal to put that die in it here too. (Maybe wrong)

    bang on AR when i first went for a spin in aus my mate was going hope we get a samon and i was thinking ?? were in the bay mate then i spun one up and i yelled its a Kahawai and he looked at me funny ha ha

    Huh, you learn something every day

    Still, that doesn't explain why it needs to be explicitly excluded on the game species list! It's not like you can illegally fish for canned salmon, regardless of what's actually in the can.
