Yes, it did! 1 hour of grunting and hauling. Unlike the one I hooked earlier in the day, it didn't take much line after the initial run, just wouldn't budge. Got the line back 1 inch at a time or at least, that's what it felt like.

No, not weighed. We estimated 60kg. It was 1.5 metres long. Quite a vacuum packing session last night!

Took a little step today…mostly because groceries are like 30% of our budget!!
I thought today would be epic, but it wasn’t. I had a descending device ready to release all the extra large snapper that I caught, etc, etc. After 3 hours on the water there wasn’t one fish to keep or release :/
At some point I got a big old girl and whacked her, we ain’t descending nothin. Then started catching gurnards…cute little guys that I said I’d never keep again…killed the shit outta them too. Then there was a school of baby Kahawai…so a buncha 11” baby Kahawai found the cooler. We fish to eat dammit!!! That’s my story. Name: IMG_5081.jpeg

That sounds like a good feed Joe. How are you liking it here?
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

My dragon-in-law loves kahawai, so when I go estuary fishing, I target them just for her. The smaller ones fillet really easily and not bad eating.

Kahawai are a vastly underrated table fish, mainly due to poor handling. Bleed them immediately and properly.dont piss around with just iki n ice...gill n gut them straight away and get the bloodline out of top of gut cavity...same as do a trout. Makes a HUGE difference to table quality if this is done quickly.
