Went out for a snapper fish last Friday 8th out of Foxton. The gods were lined up and the snaps play ball.
I'll let the pic's tell the story

Went fishing in about 1975 straight out from the Manawatu River mouth, my father in law looked after the marine radio at the boating club, guy came in and asked if someone wanted to go out fishing with him, he had a doubled ended, clinker life boat with a Hamilton jet in it. When out till the old paper printing depth sounder said 100 ft! I'd never been sea fishing before so he set me up and baited the hooks. Said drop it over the side and let it go till it hits the bottom, over it went and bang a fish on the way down! Said I've got one! He's still sorting his rod out and said you don't catch em that fast! I landed another 7 the same way , before he final got his hook in the water. We ended up with 13 snapper then a sea eel, what a pain in the arse they are, he cut the line to dump it, I then got a star fish. Decided time to go in, we'd been fishing about an hour all up! Good day fishing!
