Thread: Jigging setup advice

Agreed about the mono, it would suck trying to jig with it due to to the stretch and a 15 kg straylining rod would be difficult to really put the hurt on a king or mechanical jig with . Also you can get braid that is coloured every 10 m so you can tell if you're getting your jigs are to where the kings are on your sounder .

My jig setup is a trinidad 40n on a PE5 Reel rods spiral wrap jig rod, it also doubles as my deepwater setup for puka or king tarakihi so while it might not double up as a straylining setup it still covers another situation.

I love jigging but its not a cheap sport, if you keep and eye out on tardme you can pick up bargains from people who try it and find out its hard work compared to putting your feet up and leaving a rod in the holder with a livie out.
