Kite fishing woes
Hey guys been out kite foshing with my partners boy a few times lately. Had some great easterlies on the west coast here lately. So the setup I have is one of pauls kites. So for the fishing line I have about 10 meters of line then a 1 oz sinker and am running 8 hooks after that each about 2 m apart and another 1 oz sinker at the end I'm sitting anywhere from 100m to 300m off shore.
I've also run the same rig without the first sinker as I was wondering if the grabs were getting to it.
Me and sam have been having a great time but never seem.to catch anything lol. Have been using whole pilchards for bait. Half will come back half eaten and half missing maybe one left on he line.
I'm just wondering.if there's anything blatant I could be doing wrong if anyone's got some tips.
Looking forward to hearing from some.of ya salty dogs

Pilchards are good bait but very soft, one nibble and your bait is gone. You might be better off using something tougher like squid or mullet.

Cheers mate will give that a go. God was guttered yesterday. a 20kmh easterly wind, full moon, hightide and change of light still nothing! I tell ya id be a skinny man if I lived off my catch

Got this lot two nights ago. All on fresh mullet lightly salted. The kingfish was a first for me on the kontiki.
Nice mixed bag.
