    New electronics?

Hi all, so i have a new boat with very out dated electronics...what am I going to replace them with?

I had pretty good Simrad stuff on the last boat but looking for other peoples thoughts and experience.

I'm after radar, Gps, and fish finder. More than likely going to be MFD which I would like the Volvo engine stuff to run through. Oh, I should add auto pilot.

Radar and GPS I find easy in the sense that the are what they are, plug and play (kind off), fish finders bugger me up....all the MDF's say they can do side scan and all the other things but, you need to buy a heap of other shit to get them doing that?

I don't need to be to clever with it all (because I'm not)... look forward to your thoughts.

We need pictures of the new boat.
Stuff that builds your own charts as you cover ground would be cool.

Ring ENL in North Shore Auckland. They do Furuno stuff. Great service and people.

Not the cheapest. Bloody good to deal with though.

I'm running a Raymarine Axion which seems to be a pretty good fishfinder and plotter thingie. I upgraded from a Lowrance HDS5 ( which I'm selling shortly ). Only changed as the 5 inch screen was too small for my eyes running a split screen.
My boat is too small to worry about a radar and autopilot

I think if they are set up right they are good. I have also heard the opposite.

    Budget...more than I would like.
I have just found out that it has a Furuno FCV 295 which I believe is pretty top end, not sure what transducer though.
I was at ENL today and basically the only thing I would be able to walk out with is a 19inch TZT.
I haven't talked to Simrad about there stock items but I think I'm going to go Furuno more so because the fish finder is now going to stay. All really depends on the deal with the TZT19. If its ridiculous I will just hold off.

TZT19f is approx $16K retail for unit only not installed

    Install.
If its a hardtop trailer boat or alloy "proper boat"you will need either the external GPS antenna or a Sat compass antenna with NMEA2000 starter kit
If a marina launch or similar and fiberglass or wood of you are not getting radar antenna then you may get away using the internal GPS

If you are adding radar and want chart overlay then Sat compass is only sensible option.

    Installation cost is always additional.

If flush mounted then more expensive. If desktop mount make sure "mounting bracket" is included in your quote as its additional "option". Std supply is flushmount

FCV295 is the smaller screen commercial sounder, same features as FCV1150 but smaller screen and no bottom stabilisation feature.

    got a picture of it??

At 16K I don't think I would be getting too excited, I was probably thinking around the 10K + gst, think I can get the 16inch for 8.5k + gst. Yep its all that extra shit you mention that pisses me off as you aren't informed about it.
