    You can go more drag much more for the likes of grouper fishing where you need to get em away from the bottom as soon as possible.

    The third rule is a good one for fighting fish as you lose line your drag increases quite a bit as the spool diameter gets smaller.

    So if you have most of your line out for grouper your drag will be substansially greater than set with a full spool which is not a bad thing but something to be aware of.
