How did you guys find the conation off the snapper?
It's the first lot I've had this season that had the fattiness to it and pulling apart. Has they season come later than normal?
Beautiful fish ..personally I think the bleeding and ice slurry added to their improved texture ..and they were not in full spawn mode ..couple of weeks earlier they were spoofing when you landed / Ikied them, most were empty of roe when gutted ..late arrivals to the breeding grounds ?
Gurnard and cod were perfect firm and delicious...
Strange season ..as we saw small squid midday right up by the surface , then their was that massive plankton or jellyfish who knows what ..biggest blue bottle float men I’ve ever seen! Kings eating scraps rather than jigs ..no moki on my known cray holes ..cray holes not visited in a year ..empty ..not one or two but 8 out of 14 ..last year we picked our crays out of the mass this year was lucky to see a couple in the same spot
I only kept the lads one and filleted it the next day.....it was excellent not mushy at all.
We treated them well but as discussed they quite often go mushy and shit immediately after spawn.
Perhaps lots of food(krill/squat lobster) around is the answer.....or are water temps in the bay down this summer so far?
Inner bay fishing this year was definitely late.....like a month to 6 weeks later than early years.
This Bloody Covid Shit has really " Ripped my Tit ".
I haven't been able to go back to the " Sounds " since last Christmas and it's wearing very thin .
Here is a pic of me after reading this thread ( that's dejection and annoyance ) , as you can see instead of Fishing out near the Chetwode's ( which I would normally have been doing since December until Feb , I'm fencing on my Property in 38 degree heat .

Guess the worst thing to say is ...more fishing !
You would not believe how much I would pay for some Blue Cod cooked on a driftwood fire on the beach , with white bread , so much butter it should be illegal and salt .
