I have a 14 foot Jarvis walker revenge. Not that sure what the line on it is. Whatever the whacked on there in the shop. My knots aren’t amazing but I’m getting there and I’m targeting basically anything that’ll bite so far! I’ve tried a few spots so far with not a lot of luck. Took the kids out to wainui beach but the swells were pretty big and I couldn’t cast over them. I’m basically looking to get a few tips from someone who knows what they’re doing and hopefully meet some good folk on the way

build yourself an air cannon .use 50mm pressure pipe for the pressure tank with a 50mm ball valve with reducer down to 25mm pressure pipe as the barrel. mine is a j shape with the main part of the pressure chamber at the bottom and comes up and around then the valve .fancy ones have a rod holder as well so the rod points in the same direction as the barrel. it has a air valve same as a car tyre in the cap end to pump it up I use either a 12v compressor or a large bike pump that can pump up to 110psi I just stick a bit of paper down the barrel then lower the baited hook and sinker onto this then just aim and open valve as fast as possible.

Yeah I’ve seen those. Look like a fun option for getting right out there

Have had good results at boom rock around makara if you’re prepared for an hour walk

Go to Ocean beach, good surf casting at first light, no secret to it, attach a rapala lure and go hard.

Worked in Hinakura for a couple of years and would venture out towards castle rock......cape palliser as well......Surfcasting,a great way to pass the time....your right ,no secret to it,get out there and do it....
