    Camping spots that allow dogs

Just found out that our intended campground for an outing in February has changed rules and no longer allows dogs.
Any recommendations on campsites in central north island (prefer DOC sites/ cheap cheap) that allow dogs. A bonus would be to allow campfires too.
Would be travelling from Hamilton, happy to travel up to about 6 hours in a southerly direction.
    Cheers
    Guy

The DOC sites along the Desert Rd don't allow dogs, but Piropiro on your side of Pureora does. http://www.doc.govt.nz/parks-and-rec...piro-campsite/

Just be careful with fires on DOC land. I read somewhere recently that you need a fire permit to light a fire even to boil the billy or dry your socks. Sorry can't remember where I read it. Sign of the times.

Thanks for the suggestions, will be making a few phone calls. Looks like mangamate falls is now managed by the local iwi or something but it looks like a nice spot so will give em a call and see what they say

Used to camp at the DOC sites at lake Rerewhakiatu, but dogs banned there now too, I think ( but please check ) that the council site at the start of the road allows for dogs.

Called in to have a look at Whakamaru Domain camp yesterday, dogs allowed on leads.. Bit busy, but what place won't be this time of year... Looks like a good spot to check out when everyone has gone back to work...
