a cautionary tale...
https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/115...amp-criticised
now i know the majority on here are well aware of the fickle alpine (and bush)conditions in NZ...
but we do get a few here coming from other countries ...a sobering story all should read .
the comment "we made a few mistakes" is probably one of the biggest understatements ive heard in a long time....so many poor decisions made by a couple who considered themselves experienced enough to do this without a true understanding of new zealands extreme and quickly changing weather
-
:"Pavlina Pizova and Ondrej Petr ignored weather warnings before setting off ill-prepared for a South Island hike."
No need to change our lives to protect nor our problem to legislate against idiots, it only damages the rest of us.................Current Gun law changes. No need to say any more?

Yeah Scotty...so very true.....best thing I ever did was join the Wellington Deerstalkers as a kid......tagging along on hunts and tramps was the ultimate guide and experience to surviving in our environment......truly indebted to the older fellas who took the time to pass on skills, techniques and just plain good ol advice!!!...period........you cannot teach and learn this shit from books and videos, which seems to be the case with a lot of these clowns!!!

“One of their mistakes” was not to inform anybody what they were doing to avoid paying for huts on the track......well that worked out well for everyone.
Fkn freeloaders. Didn’t pay for huts but cost a life.
I guess the taxpayer stumped up for the rescue costs.....
