Thread: Dog friendly DOC managed land

As far as Otago and Southland goes, most of the public land outside of the National Parks you are allowed dogs.

You can't have dogs in Leithen Bush due to the proximity of farmland. No sure about Waikaia.

Dog allowed areas include:
Catlins, Blue Mountains (need special hunting permit here, but you should be able to get a block mid-week), Waianakarua, most of the reserves throughout Central Otago

Not sure about west coast or canterbury, but if not national park then most allow hunting dogs. No doubt someone else will pitch in.
