    PLB battery test

Guys, reminder to test your PLB batteries.

I'm off for a walk in the mountains tomorrow, and the Mrs just got me to test mine.

Pretty pointless having these little gadgets if the battery is kaput...

Should do it every year when you check smoke alarm batteries with daylight saving. Might save your life one day

But you can only test a plb so many times before you are the one responsible for the battery being rooted. check the distructions they usually state how many tests can be done

I have an older ACR but here is the info on the new ones
    220 self tests/12 GPS tests

    Fastfind 220 10 gps tests,
All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

I've got a fast find 220, battery only lasts 6 years, so I reckon once a year will be ok.

Battery last longer but only guarantee 6 years.

I work on the red button theory,

"When they are past their expiry date, buy replacements but keep the old ones too"

Should poo happen push every red button in sight.
(This theory is also followed by most vessel masters although they have a lot more "red buttons"
