    Solar charging 12v batteries

@gadgetman or anyone else in the know

I have about 8 of the 12v 7Ah batteries I use with fluorescent tube lights for camping and powercuts such as last night

I have a wall charger that I charge them twice a year or as about to use them

Question is can I use one of these solar panels to charge them if I connect all the positive terminals in a line and negatives in a line?

dont try to charge lead acid in parallel (positives linked and negatives linked) do them separately.

You will struggle with a charger like that.

I bought the 10w output solar panels. Auto sparky said the 1.5w type were not up to it

I'd also look at LED strip lighting. A lot more rugged than flouro and more energy efficient. Can easily hook up a cheap $3 controller to vary output too.

I made up a lead with spade connectors on one end and a lighter socket on the other so I can still use stuff in the car.

As long as you don't proceed to try and blow them out.

There are some great little LED lighting kits that you can get that have everything you need in it to run off multiple power sources like car battery, cig lighter, 240v mains plus some kits come with long cables and dimmers etc which they are boht perfect for camping/ caravaning and emergencies plus they are allot lower current than the old fluro lights.

Let us know if you would like some links to these kits.
