    track to monument hut hopkins valley

    Hi, anyone shed some light on the state of the track up the hopkins is the track still rooted ? planning on taking the kids up there kingsbirthday .

    I read not long back it was decent to about 1km before the hut, (where you drop down the steep bank) as the river has swung in and cut that out, making it very tricky to get past that point.

    thats what ive been told . if we end up there the little buggers can walk. was going to rattle up to red hut but will still have fun

    Drove the whole way to the hut in mid January. Was bumpy but fine. There was a wee bit parallel to the river about 4km from the hut that did not look like it had long to live.
