Probably 1 - 2,000 serious collectors, another 4 - 5,000 who accumulate guns that strike their fancy, and many thousands who buy guns they like but really don't need! There are many collectors of genuine antique firearms who do not need a licence, and do not belong to any clubs in order to 'fly below the radar' and not attract the attention of light-fingered scumbags. Most serious collectors are members of the New Zealand Antique & Historical Arms Association.

I guess it depends on where you draw the line between accumulater and collector.

Regardless, there are plenty so you shouldn't have any trouble finding others to talk about your area of interest

Going by the last few auctions I've been too there's plenty and most of them have lots of money to spend too.
