    FAL renewal

So I have just got round to getting my e-cat endorsement and after receiving it in the post I see I still have the same expiry date as my original non endorsed licence.
I have obviously just been through every process for renewal and more!!!
I have payed the $200+ for this endorsement and according to the expiry date on my new license, I’m going to have to do it again in 4 months!
Please tell me this is I f##k up!

I will go in to the station tomorrow and see what the deal is. Obviously I have just had the interviews (myself, next of kin, friend) and full inspection so they have no logical reason not to sort it out.

I seem to recall some mention at the Invercargill Police liaison meeting re process that police were endeavoring to coincide dates for gun owners convenience. ...

I’m not certain however, I’m only A Cat!

Same for drivers license in aussie. Got my learners for motorbike. 6-8 months away from renewing license. Had to pay the fee to get the license card redone and then again when it expired. Would only do it when it was like a month away or so. I tried but computer said nooooo....

On the positive side it is the same 200 fee for all endorsements which also makes no sense but means you can get your B, C and E all at the same time
    Cordite and rewa like this.

It is much worse than you imagined, 338.

Here is more good news: you will have to WAIT after applying for your FAL renewal... and all that while your guns sit alone in the safe and you're not allowed to take them anywhere -- maybe not even touch them! This came out in the recent liaison meetings - they send out reminders for license renewal CLOSE TO THE TIME your license is due to expire.... NO NOT IN GOOD TIME! One fella had pre-empted this and had taken his renewal application to the cop shop three months early, and then had to fight them to get them to accept it. "No, no, not until WE send you out your reminder..." or bureaucratic whining to that effect. Anyway, he came prepared to stick up for himself and got the application in in time.

With Four months to go, by dead reckoning that gives you ONE month before you must swing into action.

So expect things to take 3 months currently...? Mines due part way through next year

Yup... The most annoying part was the way they refused to agree that it’s a ridiculous system. I understand that they have legislation to follow but if they had just said that it’s a shit rule and they will look into amending it then I would have been happy. The man that came and interviewed me for a SECOND time within 2 months was very helpful and understanding though.

Not sure about the 3 months, I'd not assume anything, but it is a good starting point. All you risk by being early is having your FAL renewed early, meaning you don't get full bang for your original license fee bucks. Survivable.
