Thread: New members

Would it possible to have some compulsory stickys that new members have to read when they create a profile before they can do anything else? a bit like when we all had to read that one last year when there was a bit of trouble on here. This in relation to the thread currently in buy n sell which seems to happen every couple of weeks. New guys getting flamed for not following the listing rules. Sometimes it's gentle but usually not.

Probably some other stickys that could be read too?

I've seen it done on other forums where they have automated requirements to post into a buy and sell. The best one I've seen is:
1) Member for 1 month
2) Has started a thread in the "New Members" Section
3) Has a post count of 5

It is by no means perfect, but it simply rejects any attempts to create or respond to an ad in the buy and sell until they meet these conditions, and when it rejects them it tells them what they have to do in order to get access. Almost no one ever reads forum rules if they're just told to, but they do learn and follow rules when doing so will give them something they want.

Hmm - good point there. I suppose the issue is that the forum rules and the automated system don't line up. At least the system is already in place so shouldn't be hard to modify.

I was meaning once you submit profile you cant do anything until you read the necessaries, as in nothing but read those then you're away and schooled up
