Rabbit shooting around or near Rodney, Auckland.

    Hi everyone,
Would anyone be able to put me onto a land owner who would let me bring my young Daughter out to shoot a few bunnies? She is 7, and has been hassling me to take her deer shooting for the past couple of years. I think it would be better to ease her into hunting by letting her come out and see the old man pop a couple of rabbits, rather than take her out for a full on deer hunt ( Blowing over a deer may freak her out for 1st time) See if she can handle that for a start, dress them take them home for the pot. Give her a skin or two to keep.

Yes she is keen alright. She has seen deer, pigs home kill etc hanging up in the shed since she was a nipper, and hates being left at home when we head out for a shot. I told her she has to learn to keep quite is the first lesson of hunting, she thinks I'm having her on.

Same as mine - this on the first time i took her deer hunting.

Me: Be quiet and don't move or you will scare those deer.
Her: WHERE ARE THE DEER - I DON'T SEE ANY?
*We both listen to sound of 3 deer running off through the bush*

My youngest was about the same shooting rabbits. And it didn't stop after I shot the first one, she was talking to it as she carried it. Was still keen for me to dress it and cook it too.

Start a thread in the Varminting section and you'll likely get a few more views and responses.
