Hahahah okay let me put it this way I'm moving to Auckland in Jan 2015 I want to re barrel a 22-250 to a 6mm xc what does it involve paper work etc. In SA it's lot of paper work and very time consuming
and I don't think I have enough time left to do it here

No paperwork here, give it to the gunsmith and get completed rifle back. just smile through gritted teeth at the price

No paperwork, just take it to a gunsmith and do it!
It doesn't even need to go for proofing!
It's a far cry from the red tape of SA!

Breyt, the license system here is quite different. For A-cat firearms, the person is licensed, not the firearm (like in SA)

You can buy as many as you want, no waiting periods etc. It's lovely, but quite scary for your wallet

Also no restrictions on changing barrels, components etc. With a bit of paperwork, we can import barrels from the USA as well.

With B-Cat (pistols) or E-cat (Military Style Semi-Auto) is it an endorsement, and the actual firearm is endorsed on your license. Here it gets a bit more tricky.

When I shot IPSC in SA, had a squib load and bulged a barrel. Had to import a replacement barrel and got the factory to stamp the same serial number to get around the pistol made up out of barrel, slide and receiver crap (all with their individual serial numbers logged in the system) from SAPS...

P.S. what did you get SA colours for ?

Scott at ssrnz.com, I've been very happy with his work. Shipping rifles inside NZ is pretty straightforward.

+1 for ssrnz, have given Scott more $ than I care to think about in the last few years (you can see a few of my toys on is brag pages) and have been very happy-Especially as the time the custom work did not go as planned he bent over backwards to make things right.
Can't ask for more than that!
