1880 era black powder hunt expedition (Weltevreden, South Africa)

Obviously taken from another website, this is the second such trip following on from the success of 2015's expedition. It's a few pages long and is still being added to but one has to admire the talent displayed from the participants and is generally pretty interesting Pictures start on page 2:

That would be pretty cool. There is more than enough of us with replica rifles and the like, then need to sort out suitable era gear . . .
So when is the NZHS 1880's hunt being run then?

Special class in the Toby memorial shoot? I'd be in.

That looks like a great couple of days in the bush! If that ever happened in NZ I would be well keen for it.

The NZ equivalent would be a Barry Crump type shoot. Open sighted .303 only. Sugar sack for a pikau, swanndri, hobnail boots. Two chaff sacks for sleeping. Read some of Keith Severinsons early books to get the idea.

I have every thing for a Barry Crump shoot except the hobnail boots. They are a bit thin on the ground around here.
Velocity is thrilling, but diameter does the real killing.

Count me out. I'm quite happy with technology.
Clothes which keep me dry, guns and ammo which work when they are wet, optics which make my eyes a hell of a lot better than they are and machines for carrying what ever I shoot. Plus a whole lot of other things that make life easy. Don't see the point in being uncomfortable if I don't have to.

But.....if you can't take a selfie while doing it and then post a forum report, snapchat snap or bookface tweet so people could see you hunting with cool old gear then what would be the point in doing it?
