I see the Herald is report that the Iwi are planning to restrict vehicle access to ninety mile beach (not that I believe anything that these lying bastards print, best to take with a grain of salt). Is any one in the know up those ways? I hope not till after xmas as I was taking the fam up there fishing.

Iwi to limit access to 90 Mile Beach - National - NZ Herald News

Starting to see a bit of a recurring theme with treaty claims and local iwi's, Urewera hunting permits, Car park patrols at Woodhill etc. Is it just me or are some of the big cheeses in the iwis getting a bit up tight?

Yeah, but the faster you go the least time is spent in one place and therefore the less damage to the shellfish under the sand...low flying is the optimum..

A road yes, not a highway. So I only expect people to stick to the 100k limit when I'm fishing on it.

Keep your rod near the wet and not the dry and all will be good.

Draw a pedestrian crossing in the sand between your rod and wagon...but still look left and right before running across the "road"

    Hey Ryan,
Last Summer we where going to park the wagon at the Rimmers road car park and go for a fat up the beach on the MX bikes, Normally we would take the vehicle down the beach and park up but tide was to high.

There was guy with a Nagti Awa high vis vest on strutting around with a note book, we bailed him up and asked what he was up to. Said he was recording rego numbers ( I know this has been going on for some time, there is another old cock who will dob you in to the wallopers if you have a bike trailer and you ride on the beach). When we asked the ole mate why, he said there had been some incidents in the forrest. We asked what sort of incidents, but he couldn't give us an answer. I asked if the incidents where people pinching his pot. He didn't much like that so we decided not to park there after all and went and paid to get in the bike park.
I know we are all ment to ride in the bike park, but it does get a bit borring after a while, and expensive when you want to ride twice a week.

Why these fun police are taking regos when the beach is a public road, and the carpark is public access, I don't really know. If the cops want to police it they can only do you for regular road infringments, speed, warrant, rego, DIC, dangerous drivin etc. These dorks arnt coppers and should leave the police work to the police I recon.

I see there is another article in the herald tabloid to day about this.

Iwi beach plan spurs Govt 'fear not' pledge - National - NZ Herald News

If its the shell fish they are worried about, I don't know if its the vehicles, probably more like the gathers hooking into it.
