The bigger the better. Just make sure it has a warranty

Depending on the size of the rattle gun, but will probably be too small.

What're you going to be using the rattle gun for?

For painting I'm pretty sure you need quite a decent size to stop any fluctuations, I could be wrong though.

i can send you down some compressed air if you want some you will need a decent one for air tools and painting ive got a 3 cyl one that was closer to a grand and its still only just enough i still have to wait for it to catch up if im using a rattle gun or painting youll need bigger dia airlines than those shitty coil up plastic ones as well they cant handle the volume you need for that kind of work if your going to be serious

You will need a minimum of 12 cfm air flow to operate a spray gun correctly or you will lose pressure. Don't go by the reservoir size as thats only a storage tank, it's the pump that matters.

I had some pretty decent quality high ft/lb rattle guns in 1/2 and 3/4 drive, running of a 15cfm single phase, the modern battery rattle guns from milwaukee etc leave the air ones for dead.

It's the belt driven ones you need. Gotta have the grunt. The best I saw was a repco one for about 600. We tried spray painting with an el cheapo 300 dollar job and trashed it within days.

And that is why they have been around all these years. I used to sell some of their gear in the 90s.
